All Halloween fans can thank the lackluster box office ratings and poor critical acclaim of “Halloween III: Season of the Witch” for making producers of the Halloween franchise bring back Michael Myers. He returns in full form in this fourth installment, with the addition of new plot lines and characters.
What’s The Story? You might think that the title is pretty much a dead (pun intended) giveaway of what direction this movie is going. Yes, the “evil on two legs” (as Dr. Loomis puts it) is back and is once again ready to terrorize the town of Haddonfield. This, after he learned that Laurie’s daughter – his niece – is still living in his hometown. And in true Michael Myers fashion, he kills everyone that gets in his way to get his revenge from his sister. But the real return of evil isn’t about The Shape. The real return of Michael Myers, comes in the most unexpected of forms – an innocent little girl.
Why We Love It The ending. For those that haven’t watched the film, this is a warning that there will be spoilers ahead. Okay, how can you not love something as horrific as an innocent-looking little girl jabbing a pair of scissors into her stepmother’s gut without even flinching? It’s been one of the longstanding scare devices as evidenced in films like The Omen and more recently in films like Let the Right One In.
Did You Know? The name Jamie was an homage to Jamie Lee Curtis, who played Laurie, the female lead in the first two Halloween movies.
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is definitely a good way to announce that Halloween movies and Michael Myers are back for a new generation of slasher film fans to enjoy. This movie jump-starts a slew of Michael Myers-centric Halloween movies, which after Halloween III: Season of the Witch, is really good news for fans.
